An uncanny moment in Boys Don’t Cry

Something that really struck me during Boys Don’t Cry, was how quickly Tom and John were able to rape Brandon. I imagine there are volumes to say about the minds of rapists and what human beings are capable of once certain lines of mental depravation are crossed, but still there was something more than disgusting and depraved about how quickly they were able to cross those lines. Shanika mentioned something about the psychosis involved in their actions during class (if I’m not remembering correctly, I apologize Shanika), and I thought about what Professor Parham has been talking about in terms of seeing two things at once during those moments of the uncanny.
